The Renters’ Advisory Group meets four times per year to share their experiences of renting in Victoria and the issues and challenges they face.

Members of the Renters’ Advisory Group will be expected to have a knowledge of the current and emerging issues affecting Victorian renters, be able to listen and consider others’ perspectives and be able to confidently raise and discuss the issues affecting them, and renters more broadly, with the Commissioner and with other members.

The Renters’ Advisory Group comprises of renters who can speak as someone who:

  • rents in private housing and community housing
  • lives in a rooming house, caravans and moveable dwellings
  • rents a site in a residential park, or
  • lives in specialist disability accommodation.

We encourage all renters – younger, older, single or in families as well as those living in Melbourne, regional centres, or rural areas to consider applying to join the Renters’ Advisory Group.

If this sounds like it could be for you, please download and complete the application form. Your completed application form must be submitted by the close of business Friday 16 April 2021 by email to rentingcommissioner@justice.vic.gov.au (External link).
